What you'll do
Local History from Down Below and High Above
From a centuries-old neighborhood park, we will begin learning the story of today's Mexico. From the bottom of a beautiful and sunken park full with pre-Hispanic art we will learn of the cultures that pre-date the Europeans in the Americas.
From the top of Mexico's World Trade Center building we will learn the divisions, growth and geography of the city from a hi-tech observatory 500 ft above ground.
At a traditional city cantina, we will have a torta (traditional sandwich) and a traditional drink.
This experience doesn't take place at any touristy, beaten-path neighborhood, but at the best hidden jewel, Colonia del Valle, which lies next to famous Roma and Condesa but beyond our daily bread.
We will show you around this modern 100 year-old borough which began as a collection of centuries-old towns, like Tlacoquemecatl, Xochimanca, an others.
This visit includes the park at the former sand mines, a short ride on del Valle's central Insurgentes Avenue via public transportation (Metrobus), a visit to a city's hi-tech, reality and virtual-reality, look-out observatory at a height of 500 feet, the highest one in town, and a visit to a traditional local cantina (bar) to try a traditional torta (sandwich) and a drink.
